Writing talent marketed by Eyes on You Media

Book marketing is a specialism of Eyes on You Media, based on many years’ experience in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Here’s a rundown on the authors we are currently assisting.

  • Soon to be released is Roxy O’Reilly’s astonishing guide to tassology – the reading of tea leaves and coffee grounds that will sweep away scepticism. We expect to see all eyes on the incredible images Roxy has managed to capture in the course of her work. They have to be seen to be believed.

Eyes on You Media has edited the book, advised on production and is now preparing a publicity and marketing strategy for Roxy, pictured right – watch out for her!

  • We have recently assessed two manuscripts. One of these – from a Victorian author – will be ghost-written by Eyes on You Media, and the other – from a New South Wales writer – will be edited and publicised by us.
  • A nonfiction writer from Alice Springs, challenging conventional thinking on the nature of space, has come to us for national publicity for his book, God, Man and the Universe. His story is now with the media.
  • In Tasmania, a local history writer has challenged us to publicise their book outside the island state, and we are currently researching opportunities.
  • And on an international front, we are in discussion with an established UK author and about to launch her books across Australia.
  • We are also working with two crime writers – one from South Australia, who writes in the Stephen King genre and is seeking Eastern States publicity; and the other from Western Australia whose manuscript has excellent dramatic potential and is currently with a script editor.
  • Another project with broadcast potential involves a recently revealed body of research collected over 30 years and stored in a private home, which is drawing interest from documentary production houses. We are looking forward to seeing where this unusual and exciting project takes us.

Eyes on You event promotion draws crowds

Eyes on You Media has been flat out lately with event promotion. Following the wonderful success of Inquisitve Minds with Sir Michael Parkinson, Linda and Jane have continued to create imaginative angles for their media contacts, drawing attention to a series of concerts.

Event promotion involves a range of strategies. Adding the event to media listings, placing ads strategically, and distributing posters and fliers to target demographics are obvious ones. But we find that what really gets results is grabbing the media’s imagination with creative press release services.

Linda has added this essential ingredient to the promotion of fresh talent Mahmood Khan, American funk musician with a growing following in the US as well as Pakistan and India.

Mahmood was thrilled by the crowds attending his concert at the Sydney Opera House after Linda’s publicity services achieved coverage in four SBS programmes and several regional papers.

Mahmood has worked with Chucki Booker, producer for Lionel Richie and Janet Jackson, and Damon Thomas, who produced Justin Timberlake and Jordan Sparks. He now has a concert lined up at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Linda is beavering away at promoting this exciting event.

Linda is also working with Perth new wave band Luna Parade, Triple J award winners, whose talent is likely to get them publicity in the Eastern States before too long.

The band is already known locally, but has big ambitions to achieve enough publicity in Australia and then the UK to land a record contract. We will keep you informed on their progress.

Meanwhile, Jane has been busy promoting concerts and performances in her other life as publicist for Perth’s St George’s Cathedral, achieving photo features in the West Australian, the Western Suburbs Weekly and the Guardian Express.

The first in the Cathedral’s concert series – Bach’s Mass in B Minor, scheduled for this coming Friday – has seen tickets selling fast, and the Cathedral expects to welcome a full house of 500.

The combination of West Australian Ballet and world-class musicians presenting Mozart’s Requiem on 7 and 8 April has already received some fabulous publicity, and the Cathedral is expecting to fill all the pews on both nights for this amazing event too.

If you have an event that needs promotion and publicity, contact us using the form below. Our next post will provide a rundown on the authors we are currently assisting with manuscript assessments, editing, ghost-writing and book marketing.

Why our publicity services work

Getting publicity usually means persuading the media to run a story about you. The key skills required to make this happen are embedded in that sentence:

persuading A publicist needs to know how to angle your message in a way that will appeal to the specific media so they see the value in the story for their audience.
the media Talking the same language as editors and producers, and appreciating their objectives, are vital if the media are to sit up and take your story seriously.
to run a story It’s all in the message, which needs to be turned into a good story and put together with images for maximum impact.
about you The media want a story with an edge – not a fluffy promotional piece – so your publicist needs to know how to create a newsworthy story that still manages to throw limelight onto you.

These are all skills that are ingrained in every professional and experienced journalist. And this is why we believe Eyes on You Media has an edge when it comes to getting publicity for our clients.

As a former magazine editor, Jane’s work as publicist for PublicityShip achieved an average of 2 print stories per press release for her clients. Linda’s expertise lies in broadcast media, where she has achieved phenomenal success. Here’s the latest testimonial she received for her work with medium and UK TV personality, David Wells:

Many thanks for your work on the Australian tour for David Wells from the hit series Most Haunted, shown in Australia on Foxtel. It was a pleasure to work with you. We found you to be very professional and organised, always going that extra mile to assist us. The interviews you organised were aimed exactly at the market we requested and we found all the presenters and associated people very likable and professional. We would have no hesitations in working with you again.
